Accident, Sickness and Unemployment insurance (ASU), is also sometimes referred to as mortgage payment protection. It will provide you with an income to meet your outgoings if you are off work sick, have an accident or are made redundant. It pays out a monthly amount to cover your mortgage. Most providers will also add a little extra for mortgage related bills, such as pensions, insurances etc.

You can select how much cover that you require but this is subject to an upper limit. The premium will be a proportion of the amount of monthly benefit you have selected to receive. Benefits are usually payable for a maximum of 1 year

It is possible to have accident and sickness insurance only, accident insurance only or all three. There will also be a period of time that you will have to wait after losing your source of income until you may claim the policy benefit.
